When most people learn to walk athletically, they do not have enough flexibility to walk with proper technique.  By performing the following drills, an athletic walker becomes more flexible and therefore is capable of walking with better technique. 

An added benefit is that many of these drills provide a great way to warm up.  In particular the walking warm-up drills are great to do in the cold, because you are constantly moving.

Technique drills help break down proper form into smaller components to help fine tune your technique. Click on the link to see larger pictures and a description of how to perform each drill. Please consult your doctor before trying any of these exercises. Beginner walkers may find some of them too stressful
